Results show an extremely low prevalence of 0.11 % of pupils with any ASD diagnosis another 0.21 % were suspected to have ASD, but were without a diagnosis. Prevalence of ASD was assessed by an interview with the rector of the school or its delegate. One-hundred-and-sixty-one regular schools in Quito were selected with a total of 51,453 pupils. This research presents the results of the first phase of the study on the prevalence of pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in regular education in Quito, Ecuador. Quito's municipal water agency, EPMAPS, invited faculty and students from Quito and Berkeley to collaborate with agency staff and citizen groups to analyze opportunities and to develop plans and designs for sustainable infrastructure. City leaders are evaluating innovative low impact development (LID) methods to help decontaminate surface waters, mitigate urban flooding, and promote sustainable water systems. Citizen groups have organized volunteer river cleanups, and municipal agencies have committed to implementing ' green infrastructure' solutions to make Quito a healthier habitat for humans and other species. In response to environmental degradation of the quebradas, awareness is increasing, at both local community and municipal levels, of the importance of stream corridors for water quality, wildlife, and recreation for nearby residents.

The city's stormwater, wastewater, and surface waters suffer from untreated pollutant loads, aging pipes, and sewer overflows. These practices have dramatically altered natural drainage patterns, reduced the flood conveyance capacity of the channels (increasing the flood risk to surrounding communities), and further deteriorated water quality. In the densely-settled downstream reaches, urban encroachment has resulted in filling and narrowing of quebradas with garbage and other poor-quality fill. The upper reaches of the watersheds are being rapidly settled by migrants whose land-use practices result in contamination of waters. Quito's rapid urban growth, while indicative of the city's economic vitality, has led to the city's expansion along the valley floor, settlements along precarious hillslopes and ravines, disappearance of wetlands, and loss of páramo. Above the city, mountain streams descend from high-altitude Andean páramo grasslands down steep slopes through quebradas (ravines) to the Machángara River. Quito, Ecuador sits high in an Interandean valley (elevation ~2,830 meters) at the foot of Pichincha volcano.

Quito's Urban Watersheds: Applications of Low Impact Development and Sustainable Watershed Management Furthermore, Espejo is considered the precursor of the independence of Hispanoamerica. The first newspaper in Quito, Primicies of the culture of Quito, was his own work.

Pioneer in bacteriology and of the biopathological observations in America.

His work, Reflections on Smallpox, makes or Espejo outstanding in his field.

Espejo's extraordinary erudition is explained by the full access he had to yhe libraries created in Quito by the Jesuits. The 18th century was isf illustration and enlightment for the Quiteños.
